I'm Lame...

I tend to do things con mucho gusto. That's "with much gusto" for you non-Spanish speaking folks or something.

Like writing, for instance, when I'm writing nothing can distract me. If The Man comes home and I'm in writing mode, he'll talk to me and I'll try to listen, but it's like he's talking to me from the end of a tunnel.

What?! I can't hear you!

It's so hard to drag me out of it.

Another is fiction (including books, movies, TV shows, comics), I'm extremely passionate about it and can be an extreme collector when I get on a subject that catches my eyes. Example: when I first discovered Asian Cinema, I became...a little obsessed. I went to midnight showings. I purchased many of them (and still do), scoured the internet for streaming movies and TV shows.

Just a small example of my collection...
I have over 200 journals...there's another.

Don't ask me about music...that one's a BIG ONE.

Also, food. If I'm in the mood for something, I'll eat it every day until I'm sick of it and not touch it again for many moons.

Why am I tell you all this??

Well, I haven't worked out in a while, but when I work out. I work. Out. I know I should take it easy, but I'm think to myself, "eh, an hour? I can do that and MORE!"

I mean, why go, if you're not going to go all out?

So, I'm lame. I worked out a little too hard and pulled a muscle. Now I'm limping.

Lame.

I'll tell you what's not lame though. My sister started a blog. It's filled with recipes, gardening stuff, and design ideas. So much good stuff.

Check it out!

Ha! I get a little obsessed too when I'm interested in something. It's called a healthy appetite ... except when you injure yourself! :( Hope that muscle gets better soon!

I'm the same way. I obsess until I'm totally saturated and then I don't look at it again for years. LIke chinese food. I ate every combination plate known to the restaurant for about a month straight, and I haven't had it since. (Two years.) And Jane Austen. Every book, movie, blog, now I can't stand her. (Bad for me cuz that's what I write.)

I'm over to check out your sister's blog.

ohno! sounds like it's time to obsess over something that requires putting that leg up and resting until it feels better!

My husband says it's one of his favorite things about me... the fact that I go at everything hard. I can't help myself. When I play, I play to hard and pull muscles, much like yourself.

Happy healing!

Oh no, pulling a muscle is the worst. Hope you heal quickly.

I hear ya! I recently joined a gym and after my second class (kettlebells) I was so sore I haven't been back and it was last Monday! "Too much gusto" for sure! Thank you for the blog shout out! I am so lucky to have a very talented sister and yes I should have listened to you on the black background!

Is it evil that I fell off my chair laughing? I came in here all set to talk you out of your lameness and here you were being literal... You poor thing.

I get obsessive and tunnel-visiony, too, but being significantly older, I've LEARNED the fitness lesson--I am doing couch to 5k with neighbors and it is PLENTY.

LOL! You're literally lame. Oh, no! Hate that for you. Gah. Take it easy, and remember... with working out, esp. getting back in, you need to pace yourself. Determinedly pace yourself. ;p <3

Ha, I'm the same way. When I really like something, I get crazy-obsessed.

Sorry you pulled a muscle! I do that when I work out too, I always push myself a little harder than I probably should. Hope you feel better soon.

If you're into Asian Cinema, I've got to know, have you seen Blade of Fury? It's a Sammo Hung joint.

You are compulsive! Guess I'm that way about my NetFlix though. And I have over 1200 albums. Maybe more...

HAHAHAH!! Hannah's all gimpy! If i was there, i would totally push you over, and you couldn't do anything to stop me because you're injured. We used to do that to my mom when she had a broken ankle and was in a cast. And then later when she had a broken wrist.

I am SO like that. I own pretty much everything that has ever been printed in relation to the Series of Unfortunate Events. I even bought the first book in Italian just so I could have it. I also bought the British cover version. IT'S A SICKNESS.

But that's terrible about the pulled muscle! Feel better soon!

I am the SAME WAY! I try to be a balanced paragon of balance and virtue but I am so compulsive about reading, writing, exercise, teaching, and other interesting things I enjoy. I always say I'm thankful I don't enjoy anything that is outright destructive for me, because if I did I would be extremely dead by now. Thanks so much for writing!

I do that with cleaning. When I clean house I go all the way. Wish I could do that to my manuscript, but I get distracted with every sound. Lame. LOL

I should put up pictures of my 700+ DVD collection sometime.

And all I can ever think of when I hear the word "lame" is the Family Guy episode when Stewie pretends to be a high school student and goes up to some kids and says "lame" a few dozen times. It's hysterical.

Ahahahaha! Lame! I get it.

At least you didn't pull a muscle while stretching before a race and not get to compete at the state championship, like I did in high school.

Luckily, I don't have your obsessive nature... any more. I only own about 100 games, 150 movies, and 450 albums.

Haha, your first line makes me LOL! I hope you feel better... I do the same thing at the gym... and then I take a 4 day break :/

Just stopping by to say hi. Wish I had the same mucho gusto.

ouch. No fun. I don't have this problem when it comes to working out... other stuff I can overdo, though.

Lame; too funny. Loved the punch line.

Gotta take it a bit easy Hannah :)

hahahah! I'm that way about many, many things, though working out isn't one of them. Hope you get better soon.

I'm the same way: if it's not worth doing all the way, it's not worth doing.

I just wished I felt that way about exercise. You're lucky in that regard.
