Tuesday Turn-On: NaNoWriMo Style

There were a few things that kept me inspired while writing my NaNo idea.

I figured I would share them with you. Who knows? Maybe they'll inspire you to write something great.

First, as usual, some pictures:

I was watching 30 DAYS OF NIGHT shortly before November and found my male main character. Minnesota native himself:

And then here are just a few songs that I had on my playlist:

From the Ring

From the Grudge

From Pan's Labyrinth

Sia

NIN

and the title track from Bitcrush.

Hope something here turns you on.

Happy Tuesday!!

  1. Oh, I love the lady in the black dress! Curious about what genre your nano story is now...30 Days of Night. I saw that one...whoa!

My nano story came from a character's look in a movie. Don't you just love random inspiration?

    Have a great day!

  2. pictures and music is definitely a big part of my inspiration and creative process, too. Sometimes it sets/inspires a mood, a feeling. Other times a more direct inspiration, like lyrics sparking a specific idea or scene.

    I want that umbrella/parasol.

  3. Man, sorry about the grammatical errors above...I was talking with my kid, saying goodbye on her way out the door to school and hissing at the kitty to stay out of the xmas tree while typing. Multi tasking, clearly, is not my forte. *sigh* *blushes*

  6. I love Sia!! "Breathe Me" always worms it way into every novel soundtrack. Mostly because it's the only one I have in iTunes, but one of my Pandora stations features her a lot.

  8. so. weird.
i've been listening to HURT all morning... well the Johnny Cash cover of it. i'm not a JC fan- but his voice in that song and the fragility of his age, and his swift death afterwards... haunting.
added that pan's labrynth one to my playlist! :)

  18. Okay. I am going to sound like a creep.

I used the second picture for something I was writing once. I love it because there are at least five stories I could list off right away that stem from it.

  19. @Terry- Thanks! I'm glad you like them. I hope it gets you write something awesome.

@BlackRose- Why do you sound like a creep??

I love when pictures give me multiple ideas. That's why I have so many on my hard drive! They have multiple uses.

  20. Hello My Lovely :)

I miss you too! I will be making posts soon - I've had some issues with a really sick dog, a car that costs me thousands and doesn't love me back and of course, there are always the whispers to take into account. So distracting... whispers everywhere.

  23. I love the first picture! So creepy and gothic (in the traditional, Victorian sense of the word!). Thanks for the inspiration, I have a ton of writing to do tonight for my creative writing seminar tomorrow. Wish I could have taken part in NaNoWriMo, but had way too much uni work. Ah well, there's always next year!
